Recent trends indicate a significant uptick in demand for AMD GPUs across various regions, including select areas in Asia. This surge has been particularly linked to the popularity of the RDNA 4 graphics cards, which have notably contributed to AMD’s acquisition of a larger share of the GPU market this year.
AMD Achieves Nearly 21% of Total GPU Market Share in 2025, while NVIDIA Maintains 76% Dominance; RX 9070 XT and RX 7700 XT Thriving in South Korea
The landscape for AMD has never looked more promising, combining its stronghold in the CPU sector with a noteworthy rise within the GPU arena. Although AMD still trails behind NVIDIA, the company has been steadily increasing its market presence, reaching a level of GPU market share that is unprecedented within the past decade. Notably, reports show that the RX 9070 XT has consistently outperformed nearly all models of NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series at significant retail outlets in Germany. While this trend varies by region, there’s a growing enthusiasm surrounding AMD’s latest RDNA 4 offerings.

According to data from Danawa, the DIY PC market in South Korea is witnessing a remarkable expansion in AMD’s GPU share, with consumers increasingly opting for models like the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the previous-generation RX 7700 XT. Last year, AMD held a mere 15% of the overall GPU market, but recent six-month data indicates a rise to approximately 21%.Meanwhile, NVIDIA commands 76% of the market, and Intel holds a modest 3%.Over the last decade, AMD has not reached such heights since 2019, largely credited to the success of the RX 9000 series GPUs.
In Q1 2025, the Radeon RX 7700 XT played a crucial role in bolstering AMD’s GPU share. However, following the introduction of the RDNA 4 GPUs, both the RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT became pivotal in enhancing AMD’s market position. On the other hand, NVIDIA’s RTX cards—particularly the 50, 60, and 70 series—remain very popular in South Korea. The GeForce RTX 5060 has remarkably captured over 20% of the market, while the RTX 5070 holds about 17%, the RTX 5070 Ti at 10%, and the RTX 5060 Ti approximately 9%.

The Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT have each acquired approximately 7% market share, while the remainder of the landscape is dominated by NVIDIA GPUs. It is worth noting that AMD could further capitalize on this momentum by expanding the RDNA 4 lineup, especially with direct competitors to the RTX 5080. However, it appears that AMD’s strategy may focus on introducing slower models like the recently announced Radeon RX 9060 (non-XT).Additionally, budget-friendly GPUs, such as the Radeon RX 7600, continue to perform well, remaining the top choice among the RX 7000 series in 2025.
