AMD has officially announced that the highly anticipated FSR Redstone software update for its Radeon RX 9000 “RDNA 4″GPUs will be released on December 10th, reinforcing the company’s efforts to enhance graphical performance and capabilities.

AMD’s FSR Redstone Launch Date and Key Enhancements

Jack Huynh, the Senior Vice President and General Manager of AMD’s Computing and Graphics Group, shared a teaser on his social media platform confirming that the FSR Redstone update is primed for rollout. The update promises to deliver substantial advancements, with an official launch scheduled for December 31st, 2025.

This forthcoming FSR Redstone update marks a significant upgrade to the Radeon driver and FSR software suite. Among its cutting-edge technologies are Neural Radiance Caching, Machine Learning (ML) Ray-Regeneration, ML Super Resolution, and ML Frame Generation—features that were first previewed during Computex 2025.

A sneak peek of the FSR Redstone update is already evident in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which implements ML-based Ray Regeneration. This technology serves a purpose similar to NVIDIA’s Ray Reconstruction, enhancing in-game graphics by utilizing an AI-driven algorithm to replace conventional denoising methods, resulting in superior visuals without compromising performance.

  3. ML Super Resolution: Enables real-time reconstruction of low-resolution visuals, producing upscaled images.
  4. ML Frame Generation: Inserts artificial frames between true rendered frames to boost overall performance.

Interestingly, there are indications that the AMD FSR Redstone may not be restricted to AMD GPUs alone, with potential compatibility for modern NVIDIA and Intel graphics cards. Confirmation on this will arrive upon the technology’s launch on December 31st.

Furthermore, fans are eagerly hoping that AMD extends FSR Redstone support to older graphics cards, specifically the RDNA 3 and RDNA 3.5 series. With the launch just a month away, anticipation is building surrounding the capabilities of this innovative update.
