AMD Exceeds Intel in February CPU Sales; Ryzen 7 9800X3D Maintains Amazon’s Best-Selling Position with Over 8000 Units Sold

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D continues its reign as the top-selling CPU, followed closely by the Ryzen 5 5600X, which remains a popular choice among budget-conscious consumers.

AMD’s Dominance in CPU Sales: February 2025 Snapshot

In the competitive world of CPU sales, Intel appears to be losing its footing, with AMD firmly in the lead. The company’s innovative X3D processors have driven significant sales growth across the Ryzen 5000, 7000, and 9000 series, positioning AMD as the go-to option for consumers in the mainstream market.

Despite the introduction of Arrow Lake-S processors, Intel’s competitive edge relies heavily on its 13th and 14th generation offerings. The Core Ultra 200S series has yet to make a significant impact, remaining largely absent from the best-selling lists on platforms like Amazon. Recent figures indicate that AMD alone sold over 8, 000 units of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D in February, followed by other notable models such as the Ryzen 5600X, Ryzen 9700X, Ryzen 7800X3D, and Ryzen 7700X, each surpassing 3, 000 units sold.

Additionally, budget-friendly options like the Ryzen 5500 have shown impressive sales figures. Meanwhile, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D has claimed the title of the fastest CPU available, featuring a robust 16-core and 32-thread configuration along with enhanced L3 cache capabilities. The rankings for best-selling CPUs fluctuate regularly; however, AMD has managed to maintain a strong grip on the market across various regions.

Notably, the top ten best-selling CPUs in February did not include any from Intel, with the Core i9 14900K leading the Intel sales at over 1, 000 units sold, followed by the Core i7 12700K. The Core Ultra 200S processors lagged, with the Core Ultra 7 265KF making the most sales within that family but only reaching 200 units.

In terms of market share, AMD reported a staggering 84.18% of total CPU shipments in February, while Intel accounted for just 15.82%.This translated into AMD capturing 86.03% of the revenue share, leaving Intel with a mere 13.97%.Interestingly, AMD CPUs had a higher average selling price of $290.71 compared to $251.18 for Intel CPUs.

This trend is expected to continue in the upcoming months, unless Intel can significantly enhance its offerings. Given the current momentum, AMD’s Ryzen CPUs, particularly those with X3D architecture, are likely to keep dominating the sales landscape.
