The recent update of AMD’s GPU drivers has significantly enhanced the performance of RDNA 4 graphics cards, according to new findings from Hardware Unboxed. This latest evaluation indicates a notable improvement compared to the performance metrics observed at launch.
Hardware Unboxed Analysis: Radeon RX 9070 XT Improves by 9% at 1440p and 4% at 4K, Surpassing GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with Adrenalin Driver 25.6.3
The initial release of drivers for RDNA 4 GPUs may have limited their capabilities, but with the introduction of the Adrenalin Driver version 25.6.3, the Radeon RX 9070 XT has emerged as a frontrunner, surpassing the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti in performance metrics. While the pricing of the RX 9070 XT is theoretically $150 lower than its NVIDIA competitor, real-world market conditions have kept prices for both GPUs higher than expected.
Setting aside the pricing differences, the latest analysis reveals that the Radeon RX 9070 XT achieved a competitive advantage over the RTX 5070 Ti, now leading by a margin of approximately 3%.Initially, the RX 9070 XT was reported to be 2.5% slower than the RTX 5070 Ti when benchmarked with the previous Adrenalin Driver version 25.3.1. However, the new driver has endowed the RX 9070 XT with a substantial performance boost, with multiple gaming titles reflecting double-digit increases.

While performance gains vary across different titles, many games have registered significant advancements. For instance, the RX 9070 XT, which previously struggled against the RTX 5070 Ti in popular titles like Starfield, Delta Force, and CS2, has now either matched or exceeded the RTX 5070 Ti’s performance, with improvements of over 10% in several cases. Notably, the RX 9070 XT outperformed the RTX 5070 Ti by 14% in Delta Force, and showed performance differentials of 23% and 27% in CS2 and Spider-Man Remastered, respectively.

On average, the RX 9070 XT has seen a performance increase of approximately 9% at 1440p and 4% at 4K across 16 gaming titles. It now outperforms the RTX 5070 Ti by roughly 3% at 1440p, effectively matching it at 4K. Despite these gains, it’s important to note that the RTX 5070 Ti still retains an edge in ray tracing benchmarks, marking a key consideration for those prioritizing that feature in their graphics performance.
Ultimately, the notable enhancements in the RX 9070 XT’s performance present a compelling case for its $599 price point. With the GeForce RTX 5070 Ti experiencing price reductions, it is anticipated that the RX 9070 XT could also align closer to its official MSRP in the near future.
