AMD has solidified its dominance in the CPU market, capturing over 93% of revenue generated from CPU sales in a single day. In stark contrast, Intel lags behind with a mere 6.55% market share, resulting in a significant disparity.
AMD Outshines Intel with Impressive Ryzen 9800X3D Sales Amidst Intel’s Struggles
The competitive landscape of CPU sales is currently heavily tilted in AMD’s favor, as the company continues to dominate sales across all global markets, including North America, Europe, and Asia. The gap between AMD and Intel’s sales is only expanding. A recent report from one of Germany’s largest retailers revealed significant sales figures from January 25th, 2025, shedding light on this ongoing trend (source via @TechEpiphanyYT).

AMD’s Ryzen 7 9800X3D has overtaken its predecessor, the 7800X3D, by demonstrating robust availability and record sales, achieving 8390 units sold in a single day. Other X3D models have also shown commendable performance, with the Ryzen 5 7600X3D and Ryzen 7 7800X3D selling approximately 2430 and 1640 units, respectively, during the same period. Additionally, the older Zen 3 X3D series, particularly the Ryzen 5700X3D, has sold close to 1230 units when considering both WOF and Tray sales.
Even more revealing is the absence of any Intel CPUs within the top 20 best-selling CPUs. The highest-ranked Intel model, the Core i5 14600KF, only secured the 30th position, with the Core i7 14700K following closely behind. The Core Ultra series has struggled to make a significant impact, indicating a profound preference for AMD among consumers.

The performance of Intel’s Arrow Lake CPUs has been particularly disappointing, with the most popular model, the Core Ultra 7 265KF, achieving only 50 unit sales. The top-tier Core Ultra 9 285K managed to sell merely 10 units in that same period, bringing total Arrow Lake sales to a meager 185 units. In contrast, Intel’s existing generations like Alder Lake and Raptor Lake continue to support the company’s revenue, albeit at a declining rate. The share for the AM4 platform is nearly three times greater than all Intel platforms combined, and AM5 is now capturing over 71.84% of the market share.
During this one-day sales event, AMD commanded a remarkable share of 23615 units, accounting for 92.16% of sales, with an average selling price of 352 Euros. Conversely, Intel’s performance was lackluster with only 2010 units sold, securing just 7.84% share and averaging 290 Euros per unit. This resulted in AMD achieving a substantial revenue figure of 8.3 million Euros, compared to Intel’s mere 600k Euros. Given these trends, the future looks bleak for the Arrow Lake series unless Intel significantly enhances its gaming performance or introduces a more competitive product line.
