AMD recently unveiled an eagerly awaited comparison of its Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card against NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 5070 Ti, highlighting a notable advantage in terms of performance per dollar spent.
Performance Comparison: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT vs NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
At the launch of the AMD Radeon RX 9070, the company presented a side-by-side analysis of the RX 9070 XT and the RTX 5070 Ti. Tests were conducted at 4K Ultra settings across various gaming titles, evaluating both native performance and ray tracing capabilities, leaving a positive impression for fans of Team Red.
In terms of native performance at 4K Ultra, the RX 9070 XT showed impressive results, delivering up to double-digit improvements in popular games such as Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Ghost of Tsushima. While the RTX 5070 Ti performed admirably in certain titles, the RX 9070 XT maintained a lead in 4K ray tracing performance, outpacing the RTX 5070 Ti by 8% in Far Cry 6 and 2% in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, the RTX 5070 Ti dominated most ray-traced gameplay, with Cyberpunk 2077 showcasing its greatest advantage. Overall, the RX 9070 XT ended up being only 2% slower than the 5070 Ti across more than 30 games while also being priced $150 lower while offering 16 GB of VRAM, the same as its competitor.

Furthermore, AMD’s custom overclocked (OC) variants, provided by AIBs, boast a total board power (TBP) of up to 340W, marking a 12% increase beyond the reference specification of 304W. These upgraded models not only deliver about 2% enhanced performance when compared to the RTX 5070 Ti across the same games but also offer lower price points than the current market retail prices of the 5070 Ti, which typically range from $900 to $1, 000 or more, well above the manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP).

When evaluating price-to-performance metrics, the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT impressively offers a 23% higher performance per dollar compared to the RTX 5070 Ti. This analysis factors in the RTX 5070 Ti’s MSRP, which does not reflect the actual retail scenario as it is currently being sold at substantially higher prices than expected.

Although the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti offers advanced features such as ray tracing and DLSS 4 with Multi-Frame Generation, the competitive performance of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT positions it as an excellent choice for gamers looking to upgrade their graphics card in the near future.
