AMD CEO Confirms Early March Launch of RX 9070 Series GPUs for Mainstream Consumers

Excitement is building within the gaming community, as AMD’s CEO has officially announced that the much-anticipated RX 9070 series GPUs are set to debut in early March. This confirmation was made during a recent quarterly earnings call, providing clarity to ongoing speculation about the launch timeline.

Upcoming RX 9070 Series Events and Launch Timeline

The journey leading to the RX 9070 series launch has been filled with uncertainties regarding its timing. Initially, industry insiders expected AMD to reveal the new graphics cards shortly after NVIDIA’s RTX Blackwell GPUs were launched. However, AMD has since accelerated its schedule. During the Q4 2024 earnings call, Lisa Su put to rest any lingering doubts, announcing that the RDNA 4 GPU lineup will officially hit the market in early March.

In Gaming Graphics, revenue declined year-over-year, as we accelerated channel sellout in preparation for the launch of our next-gen Radeon 9000 series GPUs. Our focus with this generation is to address the highest volume portion of the enthusiast gaming market with our new RDNA 4 architecture.

RDNA 4 delivers significantly better ray tracing performance and adds support for AI-powered upscaling technology that will bring high-quality 4K gaming to mainstream players when the first Radeon 9070 series GPUs go on sale in early March.

To clarify the prevailing confusion surrounding the RX 9070 series launch, AMD is expected to host a dedicated event at the end of February. This event will spotlight the RDNA 4 architecture, showcasing two key graphics cards: the Radeon RX 9070 XT and the Radeon RX 9070, both of which have generated considerable buzz in the tech community.

In addition to the exciting news of the upcoming launch, it is anticipated that AMD’s RX 9070 series will have considerably higher inventory levels compared to NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series. Given that AMD is targeting the “highest volume portion”of the gaming market, availability should be robust. Nonetheless, it is likely that demand will still outstrip supply in the days immediately following the launch, a testament to the RX 9070 series’ strong appeal among gamers.
