AMD’s RDNA 4 Architecture Achieves Major Milestone with RX 9070 XT Launch
The Radeon RX 9070 XT has garnered attention in the gaming community, showcasing impressive performance metrics and delivering remarkable value. Its successful launch has positioned it as a standout product among previous generations of Radeon GPUs.
In a conversation with Tony Yu, ASUS’s China Manager, AMD’s CEO elaborated on the impressive sales figures, indicating that the RX 9070 XT’s first-week performance has outstripped the prior generation’s sales by a remarkable 10 times.
I’m very proud of the team on RDNA 4 [….].Because when we do a new architectural generation, we have to decide its primary characteristics many years in advance, and for RDNA 4, what we really wanted to do is bring the best gaming capability to a very, let’s call it good price point, so that we could get more gamers to have access to this technology.
Sometimes you think, of course everyone likes a very very high-end GPU but it’s not so many people can access it so 9070 XT has been a fantastic success.
It’s the No.1 selling for all of the AMD Radeon generations for first week sales is the by far 10x higher than previous generations. And we like to see people happy. People are very happy with 9070 XT.

Retailers around the world reported remarkable sales of the Radeon RX 9070 XT on launch day, with some exceeding 5, 000 units sold—an impressive feat that overshadows NVIDIA’s latest RTX 50 series, which has faced significant supply constraints and marked price increases above their suggested retail prices (MSRPs).Despite similar supply challenges for the RX 9070 XT, its combination of competitive pricing and solid performance, thanks in part to its 16 GB of VRAM, has made it a preferred choice for gamers.

There were claims of AMD selling over 200, 000 units of the Radeon RX 9000 series since its debut; however, these figures were later clarified by AMD to be inaccurate. Nevertheless, the actual sales performance is undoubtedly significant, marking a triumph for Team Red. Furthermore, the company has captured nearly 50% market share in Japan for the Radeon RX 9070 series, a noteworthy achievement.
We are going to no problem, we are very excited about it and we are increasing the manufacturing so we can have more gamers to have access.

This increase in production should enhance supply levels and potentially stabilize prices in the market. Additionally, Su hinted at upcoming RDNA 4 products, including the anticipated Radeon RX 9060 series, which is expected to be available in both 16 GB and 8 GB configurations in the months ahead.
