AMD and Intel Affordable 800-Series Motherboards Expected to Launch Mid-January, Intel Pre-Orders Available One Week Earlier

Upcoming announcements from both Intel and AMD at CES are generating buzz, with both companies set to reveal their latest motherboard offerings. However, it is important to note that the actual shipments are expected to commence a week after the announcements.

Intel and AMD to Launch 800 Chipset Motherboards on January 7, 2025

As excitement builds around CES 2025, Intel and AMD are anticipated to unveil their latest budget-friendly 800-series motherboards. Previously, each company released their high-end models, the Intel Z890 and AMD X870/X870E, but they have yet to introduce their more economical alternatives.

According to leaks reported by Board Channels, both tech giants will present their new products on January 7, 2025. Following the announcements, AMD plans to release its motherboards for sale on January 15, while Intel aims for a slightly earlier launch, with products available from January 13.

AMD will introduce the B850 and B840 chipsets, which have appeared in various leaks recently. Concurrently, Intel will showcase its B860 and H810 chipsets. Leading manufacturers like Gigabyte, ASUS, MSI, and others are readying their newest models, targeting consumers who prefer more affordable options devoid of premium features.

Intel’s B860 and H810 motherboards are expected to launch in conjunction with non-K and F Core Ultra 200 desktop processors, which are not designed for overclocking. Interestingly, pre-orders for these Intel motherboards may begin as early as January 6, the day before their reveal. In contrast, AMD has not indicated any plans for pre-sale activities, and reports suggest that offline dealers will receive inventory a week ahead of online retailers.

The AMD B850 motherboard will have overclocking capabilities, making it a suitable choice for power users, while the B840 is positioned as an entry-level chipset, effectively taking the place of the older A620 series. Presently, AMD boasts 600-series motherboards compatible with the AM5 socket, supporting the latest Zen 5 Ryzen 9000 processors. On the other hand, Intel’s offerings in the same space are limited to the more expensive Z890 model.

For those not wishing to wait for the B850 launch, AMD also provides options with its B650/B650E motherboards. As we approach the announcement date, further details regarding model specifications and pricing are expected to emerge, building upon previous information about potential price points for both AMD and Intel’s upcoming 800-series motherboards.
