AMD 25.1.1 Optional Driver Released with Support for Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

AMD Releases New Driver for Radeon Graphics Cards

AMD’s driver development team has rolled out an optional update for their Radeon graphics cards, marked as the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.1.1. While this update does not carry WHQL certification, it introduces compatibility with two highly anticipated games and addresses several bugs, despite a number of known issues still lingering.

Prepare for Gameplay with Latest Titles

January 30 marks the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, prompting gamers with Radeon hardware to download this driver immediately for a smoother gaming experience as they navigate New York City as either Peter Parker or Miles Morales. Additionally, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth has officially launched on PC today, and players are advised to utilize this latest driver update for optimal performance.

Enhancements for Apex Legends Players

The new update also includes some positive changes, particularly for those engaged in Apex Legends. The following issues have been addressed:

  • Enhanced performance in Apex Legends™ when using the DirectX® 12 API.
  • Users may still experience unexpectedly low performance while utilizing LM Studio on AMD Ryzen™ AI and Radeon™ products.

Known Issues to Consider

Despite the updates, players should remain aware of ongoing issues related to the gaming experience:

  • A partial black screen may be encountered in the Main Menu of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 when Radeon™ Anti-Lag 2 and Ray Tracing are enabled on AMD Ryzen™ 7000 series processors. A temporary workaround involves disabling Radeon™ Anti-Lag 2.
  • Prolonged playtime in FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH may result in intermittent system or application crashes.
  • Some AMD Graphics Products, including the AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370, may experience intermittent driver timeouts or crashes during gameplay of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. Users can activate Variable Graphics Memory via AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition (Performance → Tuning → Variable Graphics Memory) as a temporary fix.
  • Players may notice stuttering issues while playing Marvel Rivals when AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 3 frame generation is enabled. It is recommended to disable this feature in game settings to mitigate the problem.
  • After utilizing the AMD Cleanup Utility for Windows®, the AMD Bug Report Tool may sporadically appear during subsequent driver installations on the AMD Ryzen™ 7000 series processors combined with AMD graphics.
  • HEVC encoding issues may arise in OBS Studio when using Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting.
