AMD 25.9.1 driver update enhances FSR 4 support for 85+ games

AMD Releases New Radeon Driver: Adrenalin Edition 25.9.1

AMD has just released the Adrenalin Edition 25.9.1 driver, a significant update for users of its Radeon graphics cards. This WHQL-certified driver not only enhances compatibility with a variety of new games but also introduces important improvements for owners of RX 9000 series cards.

New Game Support

This update brings official support for the much-anticipated titles Borderlands 4 and Hell Is Us. Gamers eager to experience these new releases should promptly update their drivers to ensure optimal performance and graphical fidelity.

Enhancements to AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4)

In a stride towards improved gaming performance, AMD has upgraded its AI-based upscaling technology, FSR 4, specifically for the RX 9000 series. With this enhancement, over 85 existing games that previously supported FSR 3.1 can now leverage the benefits of FSR 4, making it easier for users to maximize their gaming experience through a simple global setting adjustment in the driver.

While AMD has yet to publish a complete list of compatible games, they have indicated that most DirectX 12 titles that include FSR 3.1 are eligible for this upgrade, marking a considerable advancement in graphics technology.

Fixes Included in this Release

The 25.9.1 driver also addresses several issues that have been reported by users:

  • Graphics corruption while playing Mafia: The Old Country on Radeon RX 6600 series graphics cards.
  • Intermittent application crashes or driver timeouts while playing WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers with FSR 4 enabled on Radeon RX 9000 series products.
  • Detection issues with PlayStation VR controllers when using SteamVR.
  • Crashes or timeouts may occur while playing Monster Hunter Wilds with Ray Tracing enabled on Radeon RX 7600, 7700, and 7800 series graphics cards.

Known Issues

Despite the updates, some known issues persist:

  • Application crashes may occur while playing The Last of Us Part II on Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cards.
  • Similarly, crashes can happen while gaming on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 for Radeon RX 9000 series users.
  • NBA 2K25 may experience crashes in MyCareer mode on RX 9070 series cards, with AMD actively working on a resolution.
  • Some AMD Ryzen processors, including the Ryzen AI 300 series and Ryzen 7000 series, might experience crashes while playing FBC: Firebreak.
  • Users may encounter stuttering during gameplay at 80Hz or 90Hz refresh rates when using certain VR headsets with Radeon RX 7000 series products. A change in refresh rate is recommended as a workaround.
  • Playing GTFO on Radeon RX 7000 series graphics may result in graphical corruption.
