AMD 24.12.1 Driver Release: Support for Marvel Rivals, STALKER 2, and Flight Simulator 2024

AMD Releases New WHQL-Certified Driver for Radeon Graphics

In October, AMD introduced the last WHQL-certified driver for Radeon graphics, and now, the tech giant has rolled out an updated version this month. The latest iteration, AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 24.12.1, brings enhanced support for six popular gaming titles, including several that have been released recently.

New Game Support

Gamers utilizing Radeon GPUs can now enhance their gaming experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Slitterhead, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl by downloading this latest driver update. Furthermore, upcoming titles like Marvel Rivals, available starting December 6, and Delta Force, launching December 5, are also supported with this release.

AI Innovations and Extended Support

On the frontier of artificial intelligence, the latest update introduces support for ONNX Runtime and TensorFlow, along with beta capabilities on Triton for Windows Subsystem for Linux on Radeon hardware. Notably, support for HYPR-Tune has been extended to popular games such as Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, MechWarrior 5: Clans, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Resolved Issues

AMD has also addressed several bugs in the 24.12.1 driver release, including:

  • Performance drops potentially experienced with llama.cpp, affecting users of Ollama and LM Studio.
  • Texture corruption issues in The Crew™ Motorfest.
  • System crashes upon initial launch of SteamVR with Valve Index® at a refresh rate of 144Hz on Radeon™ RX 6000 series graphics.
  • Application freezes during save file loading in Monster Hunter: World.
  • Intermittent crashes while playing Fortnite on Radeon™ RX 5000 series and newer.
  • Problems with H.264 encoding in OBS Studio while utilizing Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting.

Known Issues

Although several bugs have been fixed, there are still some known issues to be aware of:

  • Random driver timeouts or crashes while playing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on select AMD Graphics Products, like the AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370. As a temporary fix, users can enable Variable Graphics Memory in the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition settings.
  • Stutter issues when playing Marvel Rivals with AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 3 frame generation enabled; disabling this feature in per-game settings is recommended as a workaround.
  • Occurrences of the AMD Bug Report Tool appearing unexpectedly post-usage of the AMD Cleanup Utility for Windows® during a new driver installation on AMD Ryzen™ 7000 series processors.
  • HEVC encoding failures in OBS Studio with Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting.
  • Detailed limitations regarding Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL 2) support can be referenced here.
