Amber Anderson, known for her role in Peaky Blinders, and Connor Swindells from Sex Education recently celebrated their marriage in a picturesque Scottish ceremony. The 28-year-old actor and 32-year-old actress exchanged vows earlier this month at the Boath House, nestled in the scenic Highlands, not far from Anderson’s hometown. Their romance blossomed from a friendship which began during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, culminating in a proposal during a group getaway to Botswana.

Lady Diana Mitford, who starts off as the mistress of the show’s lead villain, Oswald Mosley, eventually transitions into becoming his wife.

Amber Anderson’s character, Lady Diana Mitford, made a powerful impact in the sixth season of Peaky Blinders, drawing inspiration from the real-life figure, Lady Diana Mosley, a notable British aristocrat, writer, and fascist. Mitford hailed from an affluent background and notably divorced her first husband, Bryan Guinness, to embark on a passionate relationship with Sam Claflin’s portrayal of Sir Oswald Mosley.

Beginning as Mosley’s mistress, the couple later wed in a controversial ceremony at the residence of Joseph Goebbels, with Adolf Hitler attending as a guest. Their union was characterized by a shared commitment to their extreme ideological beliefs, which Mitford embraced enthusiastically.

The couple, Amber Anderson and Connor Swindells, celebrated their wedding at the Boath House located in the breathtaking Scottish Highlands. Anderson first encountered Swindells while filming Autumn de Wilde’s 2020 adaptation of Emma featuring Anya Taylor-Joy, which laid the foundation for their friendship. As reported by British Vogue, their relationship deepened during the lockdown period.

Choosing to “bubble together”due to their proximity, they offered each other support throughout the challenging times. Eventually, during a group excursion to Botswana, Connor proposed beneath a remarkable 1,400-year-old baobab tree. Once their wedding planning commenced, Amber eagerly took charge of organizing the significant event. She shared with Vogue:

“I organized nearly everything, but had wonderful assistance from Lindsay at Wide Sky Weddings, who helped relieve the pressure in the final month,”

Initially set on the first wedding gown she tried, Amber later changed her mind after a fitting with Vivienne Westwood, discovering a design that beautifully highlighted her favorite features while downplaying her insecurities.

Amber complemented her stunning dress with elbow-length tulle gloves, elegant Chanel jewelry, and silver Roger Vivier heels, styling her hair in glamorous Old Hollywood waves. The couple’s ceremony was conducted by Alistair Petrie, known for his role as Michael Groff in Sex Education, who also happens to be the father of Connor Swindells’ character Adam Groff. Their beloved rescue dog, Moose, was the honored ring-bearer for the day.

As part of their wedding rites, the couple participated in a traditional Celtic quaich ceremony immediately preceding the drinks reception. Amber explained its significance:

“It originated from clans coming together – it’s a cup held with both hands, symbolizing that you can’t hold a sword while both hands are occupied. We drank whisky from it,”

Autumn de Wilde, the director of Emma, also delivered a heartfelt speech during the reception, highlighting the serendipitous connection brought by her film that united the couple. Over the years, Anderson fondly described the director as their “best friend, spiritual guardian, advisor, and adopted auntie.”
