As you engage in the challenges of All Star Tower Defense X (ASTDX), you may have encountered limitations with certain units that prevent them from leveling beyond a specific point. This typically indicates that those characters require either ascension or evolution to enhance their capabilities. If you’re curious about how to achieve this and empower your units, follow our guide on the ascension and evolution processes in ASTDX.
In ASTDX, characters can advance through two primary methods: Ascension and Evolving. The evolution process applies to particular 3-star or 4-star characters, while ascension is primarily reserved for high-tier units. Below, we outline the processes for both ascending and evolving your characters effectively.
Ascending Units in All Star Tower Defense X
In ASTDX, players have the ability to ascend units that are classified as 5-star or above. To begin the ascension process, select the character from your roster. Then, click the Ascend button located at the bottom of your screen. This action will display the necessary materials required for ascension.
Once you have gathered the required items, click on the gold amount button to expend your materials and gold to complete the ascension. You can obtain these materials from a variety of sources such as NPC quests, challenges, evolutions, codes, and story rewards.

Evolving Units in All Star Tower Defense X
If you’re unable to summon 5-star units, there’s no need for concern. Certain 3-star and 4-star characters can also undergo evolution in ASTDX.
To initiate the evolution process, access the Units tab, select your desired character, and click on the Evolve button. Similar to ascension, evolving a unit requires specific materials. Once all necessary items are available, select the gold option to use your materials and gold for the evolution process.
