Alien: Isolation Sequel Confirmed a Decade After Original Game Launch
Today marks a significant milestone as it has been a decade since Alien: Isolation was launched by the developers at Creative Assembly and the publishers at Sega. This sci-fi first-person stealth game, based on the iconic movie, initially garnered mixed reviews from critics and players alike. However, over the years, it has emerged as one of the most celebrated adaptations of a film into a video game, with many considering it among the greatest games of all time.
In honor of its 10th anniversary, the official X page for Alien: Isolation shared exciting news that a sequel is currently in the early stages of development.
While specifics about the new installment have not yet been disclosed, Hope indicated, “We are eager to share further details with you when the time is right.”
Much of Hope’s communication reflected on the passionate response from fans throughout the past decade regarding the original Alien: Isolation. The storyline unfolds 15 years after the events of the classic film, centering on Amanda Ripley, the daughter of the legendary Ellen Ripley. Amanda’s mission revolves around finding her elusive mother, which leads her to a space station that is being stalked by a terrifying xenomorph.
The enduring acclaim for this title can be attributed to its successful recreation of the original film’s atmosphere. Additionally, players have noted the game’s high level of difficulty, often facing multiple deaths at the hands of the fearsome alien creature.
In his announcement of the forthcoming sequel, Hope expressed that the “unwavering enthusiasm, excitement, screams (!), and resilience”shown by the fans of the original game have been immensely gratifying. He noted how it has been “a dream project”for the development team, and the extraordinary reception from the game’s community over the years has been remarkable. There is great hope that the sequel will meet, if not exceed, the expectations set by its predecessor.
