American television personality Alexis Skyy has been making waves on social media following her recent comments expressing support for Donald Trump in a video interview. She is best known for her role in the reality series Love & Hip Hop: New York.
During her appearance on Kiss 104.1 FM, a snippet of the interview was shared on Instagram by The Shade Room. Skyy openly stated her intention to vote for Trump, elaborating:
“I just feel like when Trump was around, things were different. People have their opinions on him and may think he’s a bit much, but he does get the job done.”
The host further inquired whether Skyy engages in political discussions with her friends. She responded:
“All my friends support Trump. I believe the younger generation is behind him. Honestly, when he was in office, there was more money circulating for us.”
Skyy also touched on why many find it challenging to participate in voting, suggesting that laziness is a major factor. She emphasized the significance of casting a vote, as it could determine “the other side winning.”
She urged the audience to vote if they want to see “Trump prevail.”
In response to her views, many users flocked to the comments section on The Shade Room’s post to share their reactions.
A significant number of commenters criticized Skyy, with one pointing out that she seemed unaware that the economic conditions were more favorable during Barack Obama’s presidency.
Alexis Skyy: A Prominent Figure in the Love & Hip Hop Franchise
According to VH1, Skyy, hailing from New York City, grew up facing numerous challenges. She met her father for the first time at 18, feeling resentment towards her mother for moving in with him at one point.
During her tenure on Love & Hip Hop, Skyy shared a preview of the reality series on her Instagram, although the post was subsequently deleted.
Notably, she revealed a traumatic experience that she kept from her mother and grandmother, describing her past as being “forced into human trafficking”by a man twenty years her senior. She recounted:
“Every single day… for 2 months… he would beat me, threaten my life and my family! Several times, he held a loaded gun to my face, abused and assaulted me! He also forced me to engage in sexual acts for payment! There’s so much I’ve been through that nobody knows!”
Skyy debuted on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood in 2017 and subsequently participated in two additional shows within the franchise. In March of last year, she reflected on her time in reality television, discussing her departure from Love & Hip Hop:
“My journey on that show lasted about four years. I worked in L.A., New York, Atlanta… I’ve done every city. I’ve just reached a point where I’m done with it. I’ve been in a different space, focusing on myself and staying away from the spotlight.”
Skyy is also known as the mother of Alaiya Grace, her daughter with rapper Fetty Wap. The two were in a relationship for two years before their split in 2016.
