Aileen Seiden was brutally assaulted and left by the roadside
According to CBS News, Aileen Seiden, the youngest daughter of businessman Frank M. Seiden, was viciously beaten and stabbed to death. Her body was discovered on the side of Highway 98 in northern Florida on April 23, 2018, just days after the fatal attack.
Reports indicate that Seiden suffered severe injuries, including broken ribs, a fractured skull, and broken limbs. Investigators hypothesized that the assault occurred in the motel room she occupied, which bore clear signs of violence, and later the perpetrators disposed of her body nearby. Authority figures even suggested that she may have been alive when her remains were discarded.
Lead investigator Ronnie Jones provided a haunting description of the victim upon her discovery, stating:
“She had bruises all over her body… the extent of her injuries was something I’d never encountered before.”
The search for Aileen Seiden’s killer
During their investigation, detectives uncovered that Seiden was embroiled in a love triangle involving Zachary Abell and Christina Araujo. The day before her death, the three were reported to have visited Sportman’s Lodge in Eastpoint, where they occupied room 15, the location of the crime.
It is believed that Abell and Araujo became the perpetrators after a night of events that led to Seiden’s demise.
Franklin County Sheriff A.J. Tony Smith shared insights with CBS News, saying:
“It appears to be a love triangle situation. We suspect the male involved had a history of abuse with both women, characterizing him as a thug.”
Following the murder, both suspects reportedly sought refuge at the home of a friend. This friend, who opted to remain anonymous, eventually contacted authorities with crucial information, revealing that Abell and Araujo had confessed to the crime.
On April 24, 2018, both Zachary Abell and Christina Araujo were arrested in connection with Aileen Seiden’s murder. Subsequently, they faced years of incarceration. In 2023, Araujo pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and received a 25-year sentence.
Conversely, Abell was found guilty of second-degree murder, as well as being an accessory to the crime and tampering with evidence. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2024.
