Lil Durk Allegedly Responds from Prison in New Hypno Carlito Track
Durk Devontay Banks, widely known as Lil Durk, purportedly makes his voice heard from behind bars in the new track “Where Smurk Go”by Hypno Carlito. Released on November 1, 2024, this song features an alleged phone call from Banks, recorded while he is incarcerated in a federal correctional facility. In the track, he expresses his loyalty to Carlito, stating:
“Hypno Carlito my motherf**king brother from another. Forever legend OFT (Only The Family) and I take yo f**king streets over… N*gga you know what time it is rest in peace.”
This news follows earlier revelations regarding Banks’ arrest by U.S. Marshals for his alleged involvement in a murder-for-hire plot aimed at rapper Quando Rondo, which dates back to 2022. This incident ignited tension stemming from Rondo’s suspected role in the death of King Von, a close associate of Lil Durk and a key figure in his OTF label. It is alleged that Banks placed a bounty on Rondo, resulting in tragedy, as Rondo survived but lost his cousin, Saviay’a Robinson.
Public Reaction to Hypno Carlito’s New Release
The release of Hypno Carlito’s song has generated a significant online response, with many listeners expressing doubts about the authenticity of the phone call featuring Banks. Social media users reacted swiftly, with one commenting:
“I feel this is AI.”
Criticism was also aimed at Carlito, with accusations of “clout chasing”for incorporating Banks’ alleged message into his track. Additional comments on social media included:
“This another type of clout chasing,”one user wrote.
“I’ll be mad as hell they book me and my homie calls me 2 days later talking about making an intro for his song,”another commented.
“N*gga knew where to press before the talking ended….not a newcomer tho,”a fan joked.
“Wassup with all this AI and fake sh*t lately,”a netizen remarked.
“These dumb people think this is Durk,”another added.
“That’s not him speaking from jail,”@LegendaryMedia7 stated.
Lil Durk’s Legal Troubles
Lil Durk’s recent legal battles intensified when he was arrested on October 25, 2024, allegedly attempting to flee the country with three international flights booked to Italy, Switzerland, and Dubai. His connection to Hypno Carlito deepens as the latter is a fellow Chicago rapper who has been affiliated with Durk’s OTF label. Carlito has collaborated with him on tracks, including “Getto,”from Durk’s 2015 album “Remember My Name,”and they even toured together during the 40-city tour of the same name.
Despite his arrest, reports from TMZ claim that Durk is in “great spirits”while incarcerated, managing to maintain good relations with prison staff and fellow inmates, although he has voiced dissatisfaction with the food provided.
Details Surrounding the Murder-for-Hire Allegations
In connection with the alleged murder-for-hire conspiracy, five individuals associated with Durk’s OTF label were also apprehended, including Kavon London Grant (Cuz or Vonnie), Keith Jones (Flacka), Deandre Dontrell Wilson (DeDe), David Brian Lindsey (Browneyez), and Asa Houston (Boogie). An October 2024 report from NBC News highlighted that the conspiracy aimed at Rondo stemmed from the perceived involvement in King Von’s murder.
Authorities confirmed that flight tickets linked to the rapper were used for the planned operation. Following the arrest and the release of details regarding the case, Quando Rondo responded in his song “Life Goes On,”where he reflects on the violence rampant in their environment, rapping:
“Beefing with the same color on my skin, same color of the hammer / Young n*ggas ’round here beefing ’bout the color of a bandana / That’s why I put my flag down and I picked up a Quran / Because (Life goes on) life goes on.”
As the investigation continues, Lil Durk remains in custody at the Broward County Jail without bail, raising concerns about his legal future and the implications for OTF amidst ongoing public scrutiny.
