On October 31, 2024, the South Korean news site Newsen announced that Ahn Hyo-seop has been cast in the upcoming melodrama titled The Night of Heaven. In a statement, his agency, The Present Company, revealed that the project is among those the actor is considering. The series will be directed by Yoon Jongho, who gained recognition for the popular tvN series Lovely Runner, which features time travel.
The new romantic mystery drama Night in Paradise takes inspiration from a novel of the same name authored by the acclaimed writer Hwang Euigeon, who released it in 2022.
Ahn Hyo-seop is set to portray a former taekwondo athlete named Cheon Gook
Night in Paradise will delve into the rumors that surround a chaebol family and their intricate ties to the entertainment world. The plot centers on a chaebol heiress who faces numerous challenges due to the stigma of being an illegitimate child.
The heiress’s life shifts dramatically when she meets a wealthy ace from a secret club located in Cheongdam-dong. Together, they protect each other from malevolent forces and discover the essence of genuine love.
Ahn Hyo-seop will take on the role of Cheon Gook, a former taekwondo athlete. After moving away from martial arts, he becomes the leading ace of a hidden club called Si Bel Homme.
The unexpected transition from being a taekwondo champion to entering the entertainment realm stems from tragedy. Cheon Gook is forced to shoulder his stepmother’s loan debts after she absconds with money from his deceased father’s insurance policy. Fans of Ahn Hyo-seop often describe the character as tall and muscular.
For those unfamiliar with his background, Ahn Hyo-seop’s rise in the South Korean entertainment industry started when he was discovered by JYP Entertainment. He trained there for three years before making his acting debut in the MBC short drama Splash Splash Love. He also participated in the music variety show Always Cantare.
His first leading role came in the 2017 series Queen of the Ring, and he became well-known for hits like One More Happy Ending, Dr. Romantic, Lovers of the Red Sky, Business Proposal, Still 17, Abyss, and several others.
Recently, Ahn Hyo-seop starred in A Time Called You, the Korean adaptation of the Taiwanese hit series Someday or One Day. He is also preparing for his film debut in Omniscient Reader, alongside Lee Mi-ho, Chae Soo-bin, Nana, and BLACKPINK’s Jisoo.
