Age of Mythology: Retold Unveils Exciting New Rogue-Lite Mode Featuring Cooperative Gameplay

The beloved classic real-time strategy title, Age of Mythology: Retold, is about to receive an exciting update in the form of a brand-new game mode at no extra cost. Titled Arena of the Gods, this mode features a series of skirmishes, allowing players to carve their own journey through these challenges.

This update will introduce 33 new skirmish scenarios, each offering various difficulty levels. With each playthrough of Arena of the Gods, players can choose different paths that ultimately lead to a climactic boss encounter. Achieving victories along the way earns players Blessings from the deities, which can be utilized in subsequent maps. These blessings include enhancements like creating villages when building houses or accelerating god power cooldowns.

Simultaneously, the gameplay will be enriched by World Twists, which introduce unpredictable elements such as unlockable prisoners and cavalry units that morph into infantry upon defeat. Each session of this mode will feature different conditions, delivering a wealth of replayable challenges.

As Kastor, embark on a quest through legendary terrains, facing off against mythological foes. Triumph, and you shall be rewarded with Blessings granted from the very gods. Journey through iconic landscapes—whether battling the frigid cold of the Tundra or navigating the perilous shores of the Black Sea—each encounter presents unique challenges and gameplay dynamics. The deities observe your every action, their divine influence steering your fate.

This mode can be enjoyed solo or in collaboration with a friend, as it includes a 2-player co-op feature, setting it apart from the main campaign experience.

The launch of Arena of the Gods in Age of Mythology: Retold is slated for November 7, available to all owners of the base game on PC and Xbox consoles, as well as Xbox Game Pass subscribers. Additionally, the first expansion, Immortal Pillars, is currently in the works and expected to release in late 2024.
