Over a month has passed since Microsoft launched the much-anticipated remake of the fantasy RTS, Age of Mythology: Retold, yet the game’s support continues with frequent updates. The latest patch has been rolled out, upgrading the game to version 17.36100.
The official Age of Empires website provides a comprehensive changelog for this update, so we’ll highlight some of the key features from the patch. One notable enhancement addresses various user interface and social elements that have been either introduced or refined, including:
- The Friends list is now organized, with friends displayed first by their Online status and then alphabetically by Name.
- The Game lobby allows searching by Game ID, Game ID URLs, and players’ names.
- The introduction of 4v4 Ranked and Quick Play options for those engaging in automated matchmaking.
Furthermore, the multiplayer browser screen now showcases a more exhaustive list of online games for players with this update. Additionally, the patch implements several adjustments to game balance, focusing on various major and minor gods alongside numerous human and myth units.
According to the blog announcement, there have also been enhancements made to the Save/Load menus, along with “stability and performance improvements”in particular areas, such as the Scenario Editor and late-game sessions, as well as fixes addressing issues related to the game’s animations.
Age of Mythology: Retold is available on PC and Xbox Series X and S consoles, and it’s also accessible to subscribers of PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Unlimited. We awarded the game a stellar 9.5 out of 10 in our review.
Moreover, Microsoft has revealed plans for the first expansion pack, titled Immortal Pillars, which is set to introduce Chinese mythology, including its deities and mythical creatures. No release date for the expansion has been announced yet.
