Introducing Photo Mode in Age of Mythology: Retold

In a refreshing move for the real-time strategy genre, Age of Mythology: Retold has launched a dedicated photo mode, something that is not commonly found in similar games. This new feature comes as part of a broader update that includes an engaging new event packed with challenges, alongside numerous bug fixes and gameplay balance adjustments.

Accessing the Photo Mode

The newly implemented photo mode can be conveniently accessed via a button located in the pause menu or through the keyboard shortcut Ctrl + F12. Designed for single-player gaming, this feature empowers players to “capture the perfect screenshot” at any moment during their gameplay experience.

Customizing Your Screenshots

Players will appreciate the flexibility offered by the photo mode. Options to modify lighting, select different sky domes, and toggle visibility settings like fog of war and black map enhance the creative possibilities for capturing stunning in-game visuals. Additionally, a feature to quickly navigate to the photo mode screenshot capture folder simplifies the process of storing and sharing your favorite moments.

Future Accessibility on Consoles

Currently, the photo mode is exclusively available for PC gamers, with the development team indicating that it will be rolled out to Xbox Series X|S users in a future update. This ensures that console players will also be able to enjoy the same features once they are implemented.

Explore the New User Interface

In conjunction with the photo mode, players on PC will also find an alternate user interface available for the in-game Scenario Editor. Aimed at simplifying user experience without sacrificing essential features, this new UI can easily be activated through the settings menu, with more enhancements planned for the near future.

New Year Event and Challenges

As we approach February, the developers have kicked off an exciting 2025 New Year event featuring 25 challenges available from January 23 to February 26. Players can access a different challenge each day, with opportunities to complete both campaign and skirmish/multiplayer objectives to earn exclusive cosmetic profile rewards.

Patching Up the Gameplay

In addition to the exciting new features and events, this patch (Update 17.64528) also introduces a comprehensive list of bug fixes and balance changes that enhance overall gameplay quality. Players interested in the full details can refer to the complete changelog here.

Looking Ahead

The update is now rolling out to both PC and Xbox Series X|S players. Furthermore, anticipation builds for the first expansion titled Immortal Pillars, which is still under development but currently lacks a confirmed release date.
