Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition – Chronicles: New Naval Battle Features Coming to Battle for Greece

Recently, Microsoft revealed its intention to release Chronicles: Battle for Greece, an expansion for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. This upcoming downloadable content (DLC) will focus on a single-player campaign while enhancing the game with exciting new features centered around naval warfare.

In a recent announcement on the Age of Empires website, Microsoft emphasized their goal to enrich the gaming experience by not only introducing additional naval units but also highlighting the significance of maritime conflicts in ancient civilizations.

The DLC will introduce two new types of structures designed to facilitate the creation of an extensive naval fleet. The first is the Port, allowing players to construct economically-focused vessels such as fishing boats, merchant ships, and transports. The second building is the Shipyard, dedicated to the assembly of military ships intended for combat against rival fleets.

Players can look forward to constructing six military types of ships, most of which can be upgraded. The smallest option is the Lemboi scout, produced at the Port. Next are the Ramming Ships, designed specifically for direct collisions with enemy vessels. The Galleys come equipped with ranged weaponry, while the Incendiary Ships are engineered to serve as fiery projectiles against opposing crafts.

Additionally, players will have access to Catapult Ships that feature catapults for bombarding enemy ships. Finally, there are the formidable Leviathan vessels designed to launch long-range attacks on coastal buildings from the sea.

Beyond the new ships, the DLC will also introduce collectable naval resources. Players can gather oysters to acquire gold, while Merchant Ships can transport both gold and wood back to the player’s base.

Chronicles: Battle for Greece for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is set to launch on November 14. It will be available on platforms such as Valve’s Steam, the Microsoft Store, and Xbox. Preorders can be made now for $12.74, reflecting a 15% discount from its regular price of $14.99.
