The Marvel Cinematic Universe: Exploring “Agatha All Along”and the Introduction of Hulkling and Wiccan
“Agatha All Along,”the latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has expanded the storyline by introducing several new characters. Among the most noteworthy is the reincarnation of Billy Maximoff as Wiccan, the son of the Scarlet Witch.
While fan theories have circulated about the character Hulkling, he has yet to make an official appearance in the MCU. This leaves ample opportunity for Hulkling’s narrative to evolve and for him to cross paths with Wiccan in future projects.
An Overview of Hulkling and Wiccan in Marvel Comics
In the Marvel Comics universe, Hulkling, or Theodore “Teddy”Altman, stands as a prominent superhero and a key member of the Young Avengers. This team is composed of adolescent heroes united to tackle various threats within the Marvel Universe.
Hulkling possesses traits akin to the original Hulk, including superhuman strength. His unique abilities, however, extend beyond sheer strength; he can shapeshift and heal at an accelerated rate. Originating from a lineage of Kree and Skrull parents, Hulkling is uniquely tied to legendary superhero Captain Marvel in the comics.
Conversely, Wiccan, born as William “Billy”Kaplan, is best known as the reincarnation of Billy Maximoff. Like Hulkling, Wiccan is also affiliated with the Young Avengers and the New Avengers, showcasing the interconnectedness of these characters.
Wiccan’s abilities are reminiscent of those of his mother, Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch). He wields formidable magical powers, including chaos magic, reality manipulation, telepathy, elemental control, and the capacity to fly.
Hulkling and Wiccan: A Closer Relationship
While Hulkling and Wiccan are not blood relatives, they share a deep, romantic connection in the Marvel Comics universe, as they are married. Their relationship not only represents one of the most significant same-sex couples in the comics but also showcases their adventures as they fight against evil across galaxies.
In “Agatha All Along,”Wiccan (Billy) is seen with a boyfriend named Eddie, leading some fans to speculate about the potential introduction of another Young Avenger. The name Eddie shares similarities with Teddy, Hulkling’s nickname, fueling theories about a deeper connection.
However, showrunner Jac Schaeffer clarified that the choice of the name Eddie was a tribute to someone personally significant to the writing team, rather than a foreshadowing of Hulkling’s arrival.
With the formation of the Young Avengers on the horizon in upcoming films and series, it remains likely that Wiccan will eventually meet Hulkling. Speculations also suggest that Hulkling may be tied to Bruce Banner’s legacy, particularly following his introduction at the conclusion of “She-Hulk.”Nonetheless, these theories have not yet been officially confirmed.
