On September 25, 2024, ADOR announced its plan to hold a general meeting to discuss the reappointment of Min Hee-jin as an internal director. Despite this, ADOR’s board decisively denied the request for her reinstatement as CEO at this juncture.
This latest decision comes after ADOR’s earlier proposition on September 11, which proposed that Hee-jin would take charge of producing NewJeans for the next five years, covering the duration of the group’s contract. Nevertheless, the board found the request for her CEO position unacceptable. As reported by Soompi, the official statement read:
“ADOR resolved to convene an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders to reappoint Min Hee-jin as an internal director at today’s board meeting. However, the ADOR board of directors discussed and decided that the request for her to return as CEO is currently not acceptable.”
The statement further elaborated:
“Given that the basic guarantees regarding her position, duration, and authority as the producer in charge of NewJeans have been established, we expect further negotiations on specific conditions to take place in the future. The details discussed at today’s board meeting and various inquiries were provided in detail via email to the members of NewJeans.”
In its announcement, ADOR emphasized that while the fundamental terms for Min Hee-jin’s role as a producer have been set, more in-depth discussions are required to finalize specific conditions.
Earlier in the month, on August 27, ADOR revealed that Min Hee-jin would resign from her CEO position but continue as an internal director overseeing the production of NewJeans. Following this decision, all five members of NewJeans publicly called for her reinstatement as CEO during a live broadcast on September 11.
They established a deadline of September 25 for HYBE to restore Min Hee-jin to her previous role, highlighting her significant contribution to the group’s creative direction.
Minji’s cryptic post ignites speculation as NewJeans’ deadline for Min Hee-jin’s CEO role approaches
On September 25, 2024, Minji from NewJeans captured attention with a cryptic post on the group’s exclusive fan community app, Phoning. The message was made public on the same day NewJeans set a deadline for their agency, ADOR.
In her message, Minji shared her reflections and gratitude towards the group’s fanbase (Bunnies) for their continued support. The post read:
“I always get energy from watching Bunnies too. Always take care of yourself, and may your mind be filled with only good thoughts! Byeeee.”
The timing of Minji’s post coincided with a pivotal moment for NewJeans. Earlier in the month, the girl group held an unexpected livestream on YouTube, where they accused HYBE staff of subtle mistreatment and demanded that ADOR reinstate Min Hee-jin as CEO.
They specified a firm deadline of September 25 for this demand, exerting considerable pressure on their agency. As this deadline approached, reports indicated that HYBE remained silent on the matter.
