Achieving Cao Cao’s True Ending in Dynasty Warriors Origins: A Complete Guide

Dynasty Warriors: Origins presents players with a pivotal choice among three distinct factions, each culminating in two different potential endings. To unveil the true endings of each faction, players must navigate through intricate scenarios that influence specific officers’ fates, significantly shaping the narrative progression.

Among these, the true ending for Wei stands out as the most challenging to achieve. This requires players to successfully maneuver a series of complex objectives within a limited timeframe, ultimately leading to the salvation of two of Cao Cao’s most devoted allies and pivotal changes during the Battle of Chibi.

Unlocking the True Ending for Wei in Dynasty Warriors: Origins (Cao Cao Secret Ending)

To unlock Wei’s true ending, players must prioritize the rescue of Dian Wei and Guo Jia. Successfully completing this task ensures Guo Jia unveils Huang Gai’s treachery during the Battle of Chibi, significantly minimizing casualties for Cao Cao’s forces. Because of its complexity, players may find it advantageous to tackle this challenge on the Historian difficulty setting in Dynasty Warriors: Origins.

Saving Dian Wei during Escape From Wan Castle (Chapter 4)

Initiate the quest for the true ending by rescuing Dian Wei in Chapter 4, during the Escape From Wan Castle. Begin by capturing the enemy base located in the top right-hand corner of the battlefield. Focus on eliminating any rival officers encountered along the way.

Once that base is secured, the next step is to manage the incoming reinforcements and then defend the central base against Kuai Yue and his accompanying officers. This foundation is crucial for progressing toward the primary goal.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Save Dian Wei Huche'er Location

Following this, players must capture the base situated in the upper left corner to create ladders along the castle’s eastern wall. Ascend one of these ladders promptly to eliminate the three officers stationed in the central courtyard. Once cleared, navigate toward Huche’er, located in the lower right of the castle grounds. If approached swiftly, Huche’er will acknowledge their intent to assist Cao Cao’s bodyguard; players should then defeat Huche’er and his troops with efficiency.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Save Dian Wei Fate Altered

Accomplishing these tasks within eight minutes will trigger Dian Wei’s dialogue about diminished enemy numbers, accompanied by a Fate Altered message. If this achievement isn’t reached, players must restart the mission. Speed is essential; consider utilizing single-target Battle Arts for officer confrontations and reserving Musou attacks for critical moments.

Saving Guo Jia at the Battle of Mt. Bailang (Chapter 5)

While Guo Jia faces imminent danger during the Battle of Mt. Bailang, his fate is not doomed; he falls victim to illness derived from the relentless battle conditions. To secure his survival, players must complete the initial phase of the Battle of Mt. Bailang quickly, specifically defeating Bailuan within four minutes.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Save Guo Jia Route

Complicating matters is the need for a precise route to Bailuan, as alerting Yuan Xi’s forces must be avoided. Begin by capturing the nearest base, then move southwest. Continue westward, leaping through fencing gaps rather than traversing the longer path.

Upon conquering the first three bases, it’s crucial to summon a horse, urging it on before the gates open—this maximizes dashing time. Once the fourth base’s gate opens, defeat the three officers there and exit through the western gate.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Save Guo Jia Open Gate

As players gallop along the newly opened path, Bailuan will confront them, and they must quickly overcome the Guardian of Peace. If fast enough, Bailuan will question Ziluan’s intentions regarding bloodshed, while once again displaying the Fate Altered message. Players can then complete the level normally, initiating ambushes and charges expediently to keep Cao Cao from facing overwhelming odds.

If they reach the fourth base before Zhang He engages Yuan Xi, alerting the latter results in a necessary restart of the mission.

Stopping Huang Gai’s Betrayal at the Battle of Chibi (Chapter 5)

Finalizing the pathway to the true ending requires players to thwart Huang Gai’s betrayal during the Battle of Chibi. The first step involves locating Zhuge Liang and compelling him to retreat. This can be done by either waiting for his approach to the prayer altar in the map’s lower left corner or intercepting him at his starting territory south of the river near the enemy stronghold. For precise navigation, players may check the battle map for his position.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Stop Huang Gai Yellow Flag Location

Once Zhuge Liang is subdued, Guo Jia will discern the existence of a betrayer within the Wei ranks, advising players to remain vigilant when the wind changes direction. At that moment, they should position themselves near the yellow flag at the rear of Cao Cao’s flagship to anticipate Huang Gai’s arrival. Confronting and defeating Huang Gai before he can ignite the fleet can be challenging due to his robust defense and potential to trigger the flames during combat.

Should they face difficulty locating Huang Gai, players may need to step away from the marked area briefly. Monitoring Huang Gai’s blue dot on the mini-map allows players to return and engage him at the yellow flag’s location.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins - Stop Huang Gai Fate Altered

Once Huang Gai falls, the Fate Altered message will appear one last time. Players can then confidently complete the remainder of the battle as planned. They will not need to tackle the Battle of Huarong Path afterward, as the true ending for Wei will be revealed right after the conclusion of the Battle of Chibi if Cao Cao’s fleet remains intact. Although distinct from the default ending, completionists will likely find satisfaction in this achievement.

Completing the Wei storyline with the true ending unlocks the “The True Path to Power”Trophy/Achievement.
