Accessing The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2: A Complete Guide
The Dark Horizon expansion for Remnant 2 is the final installment of post-launch content developed by Gunfire Games for their critically acclaimed action RPG. Similar to the previous expansions, The Awakened King and The Forgotten Kingdom, players can access The Dark Horizon at any point during their gameplay, provided they have completed the Labyrinth.
However, navigating the process of accessing this DLC can pose challenges for some players, particularly those who are new to Remnant 2 or haven’t experienced earlier DLCs. Although the steps are relatively simple, the game doesn’t adequately explain them, leaving many players in a state of confusion.
How to Start The Dark Horizon DLC in Remnant 2
Before diving into The Dark Horizon DLC, it’s essential to ensure that your game is fully updated with the latest title patch. Players with the Ultimate Edition of Remnant 2 can access the expansion at no extra charge. If you are playing the Standard Edition, you can either purchase the DLC bundle or acquire The Dark Horizon expansion as a standalone pack.
Once your game is updated on your preferred platform (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or PC), head to Ward 13 to start the latest expansion. Here are the steps to initiate The Dark Horizon expansion:
- Go to Ward 13 and interact with the World Stone.
- Select World Settings.
- Choose Reroll Adventure Mode and select The Dark Kingdom DLC from the list of available expansions.
- If you’re interested in starting a brand new campaign, select Campaign.
- Pick your desired difficulty and proceed to the world menu, where you’ll find N’Erud, which leads you into the DLC.
If this is your first time experiencing the expansion, it is highly advisable to select the One-shot Adventure mode. This option ensures that you solely experience the DLC, distinct from the base game version of N’Erud. Please note that One-shot Adventure is available only once when starting the DLC for the first time.
In subsequent playthroughs of The Dark Horizon, you won’t have the choice to play the DLC exclusively; instead, the map will be intermingled with the base game version of N’Erud. Choosing One-shot mode is the optimal way to explore the DLC initially, making it simpler to earn exclusive rewards such as new Archetypes and weapons.
If you’re eager to unlock the new Warden Archetype, starting The Dark Horizon in One-shot Adventure mode is highly recommended.
