Microsoft Gears Up for Windows 11 25H2 General Availability
This month marked a significant development for Windows enthusiasts, as Microsoft uploaded Windows 11 25H2 ISO images to the Release Preview channel aimed at Windows Insiders. This pivotal move indicates that a broader rollout of Windows 11 version 25H2 is on the horizon.
As part of this preparation, new ISO images have been made available on Microsoft’s delivery servers. A keen-eyed Reddit user, known as TekkieBoy, discovered and shared direct download links for the Windows 11 25H2 versions tailored for both x64 and Arm64 architectures.
Understanding the Upgrade Process from 24H2 to 25H2
It’s important to note that the transition from Windows 11 version 24H2 to 25H2 will not involve a complete operating system overhaul, which differentiates this update from the previous 24H2. Instead, the upgrade process will resemble that of the 23H2 transition from 22H2, characterized by the use of an enablement package (eKB).
According to Microsoft, the core operating system and system files of Windows 25H2 are identical to those of 24H2. This means that new features introduced in 25H2 will remain inactive until prompted by an update, referred to as an enablement package. This package, designated as KB5054156, can be applied seamlessly through a quick installation process that functions like a “master switch, ”activating the new features with minimal downtime.
Downloading the Update and ISOs
If you are currently running the latest cumulative update for version 24H2, you’re in luck! You can upgrade to 25H2 through the eKB without the need to download the full ISO. Below are the necessary links for downloading the eKB and ISO files:
