AC: Shadows – Seeking Bandits in the Out to Pasture Quest

Introduction to the Out to Pasture Quest in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, one of the earliest side quests you’ll encounter is titled Out to Pasture. In this quest, players will assist Naoe in combating a group of bandits that threaten the agricultural lands near Sakai. This mission introduces players to the game’s non-linear quest design, where tracking your objectives in the expansive world of Feudal Japan becomes a rewarding yet challenging experience.

Understanding the Quest Structure

Unlike previous quests that provide clear targets or markers, the Out to Pasture quest requires players to simply eliminate a vague category of enemies: bandits. Without a specific target in sight, players must interpret this mission as a challenge to explore the Settsu area actively.

Locating Bandits in Settsu

To fulfill the Out to Pasture mission and earn valuable resources and experience points, your objective is to defeat 100 bandits in the Settsu vicinity. At this stage, you have generally navigated with guidance. This time, however, victory lies in your initiative to roam the map freely.

Identifying Bandit Locations

Bandits can typically be found at designated red diamond locations on the map. Notable hotspots include the Money Changing District situated south of the docks in Sakai and various bandit camps nestled in the countryside. Additionally, be aware that some castles and temples throughout Settsu may be overrun with bandits, but ensure you distinguish them from town guards before engaging.

Recognizing Bandit Types

To avoid confusion during your skirmishes, it’s important to differentiate between bandits and town militia. Bandits are characterized by their unkempt appearance and ragged clothes, equipped with makeshift weapons such as knives and swords. In contrast, guards are typically more polished, donning organized uniforms and better-quality gear.

Exploration Tips

Although taking down 100 bandits may initially seem daunting, accepting this quest early on offers an opportunity to explore. Engage with wandering targets, such as the Kabukimono, and tackle main story objectives like the Golden Teppo. This approach will allow you to navigate numerous hostile settlements and defeat an impressive number of bandits, making your task less overwhelming than it appears.
