Fans of the latest installment of Batman from DC Comics can breathe a sigh of relief, as there are plenty of adventures ahead for the Caped Crusader. Readers worldwide have been enamored with Absolute Batman, and writer Scott Snyder has confirmed that there will be much more to come—as long as the audience continues their support for the series.
In a recent conversation with Screen Rant regarding Absolute Batman #4, Snyder elaborated on what followers of the Absolute Universe can anticipate in the near future. He noted that the current storyline, titled “The Zoo,”is merely the introductory arc of what he envisions as the first ‘season’ of Absolute Batman.
Scott Snyder: In terms of the Absolute line itself, just so I’m clear, the first season of the book, to me, is the first three arcs, and the first three arcs are five to six issues a piece, plus there’s little interstitial issues in between the arcs to give Nick room to get ahead. So you’re talking about 18 to 20 issues, so almost two years really, just to do the first season of the book. And we’re planning on doing more than one season, so there’s no going anywhere. As long as you guys pick it up, we’ll keep making it, because we love working on it.
Snyder projects that the first season will consist of three arcs totaling approximately 18 to 20 issues, providing content for fans for nearly two years. Furthermore, he hinted at plans for additional seasons of Absolute Batman, contingent upon the ongoing purchase support from fans.
The Future of Absolute Batman: Two Years and Beyond
The Role of Fans in Sustaining the Series
The long-anticipated debut of the Absolute Universe occurred in the DC All In Special, where Darkseid’s demise set off a chain reaction, unleashing a powerful energy that affected the multiverse. This led to the emergence of the Absolute Universe—an arena where hope is scarce and heroes face unprecedented adversities. Notably, this version of Batman rises from humble beginnings but makes a formidable impact on Gotham City.
Snyder’s ambitious vision for Absolute Batman is not unexpected; during promotional activities for DC All In, he outlined plans for at least two years of content. However, what might surprise fans is his intention for further seasons, purely dependent on sustained consumer interest. If Snyder’s estimation holds true, fans might see Absolute Batman running for up to eight years—or longer—if they continue to support the series.
The Fan’s Influence on Future Seasons
The Absolute Universe’s Continuation Depends on Fan Support
While creators may brim with enthusiasm for their work, the ultimate fate of a series lies in the hands of its readers. So far, Absolute Batman appears secure, having launched as the top-selling comic in 2024. However, to ensure its longevity, consistent support is essential—whether through purchasing physical editions, digital copies, or trade collections as they become available. Snyder has plans for an epic narrative arc in Absolute Batman, but it ultimately needs to resonate with the fans to thrive.
