Gregory Prioritizes Janine Over His Fear in Abbott Elementary Season 4 Episode 2
The episode titled “Ringworm”revolves entirely around the infection that sends the slightly neurotic faculty into a tailspin.
Upon hearing Jacob’s announcement, Gregory swiftly leaves the teachers’ lounge, making every effort to avoid contact with others for the rest of the episode. Donning protective quarantine gear, he takes his class, secures his classroom door with an extra lock, and even educates his students about the unpleasantness of fungal infections.
Janine is frustrated by Gregory’s overly cautious behavior, especially since she was looking forward to their movie night. He changes their plans to a virtual date, but upon seeing her disappointment, Gregory decides to set aside his fears in favor of spending time with Janine.
Jacob’s Brave Attempts Cannot Contain the Ringworm Spread
While Gregory’s heightened caution might seem excessive, he wasn’t the only one reacting rather dramatically; the rest of the faculty wasn’t far behind him.
Barbara foolishly believed she was exempt from the infection, while both Ava and Melissa decided to keep their distance from the students. Melissa was especially worried about her upcoming date with a man who owned a hot tub.
Despite their efforts at quarantining, keeping children from interacting proved to be an insurmountable task. One of Jacob’s pupils made their way from the first to the ground floor, unknowingly spreading the fungi.
After realizing the futility of keeping the teachers and students apart by floor, Jacob suggests gathering all infected students in the gym until the end of the day. He nobly volunteers to supervise the children, a decision that nobody challenges, but ironically leads to his own infection with a severe case of ringworm.
As a result of their attempts, nearly all the faculty members succumb to the relentless fungus by the conclusion of season 4, episode 2 of Abbott Elementary. Gregory and Janine end up catching the infection post-date.
Contrary to her beliefs, Barbara finds out she is not immune, and Melissa must cancel her date after becoming infected as well. However, her disappointment is somewhat alleviated when she learns that her date’s hot tub had been removed by authorities due to zoning violations.
The next episode of Abbott Elementary season 4 is poised to air on ABC on October 23, 2024, and will be accessible for streaming on Hulu the following day.
