
A24 is kicking off 2025 with a new horror movie that seems to be part of a continuing trend of disappointing reviews on Rotten Tomatoes for the studio. Following a highly successful 2024, where A24 garnered significant attention with The Brutalist—a period drama vying for ten Academy Awards, including Best Picture—the indie powerhouse has other contenders like Sing Sing, A Different Man, Heretic, Queer, and Babygirl making waves this awards season.
As we look to 2025, A24 has an exciting lineup slated for release.March promises several anticipated titles, starting with Opus, featuring talents such as Ayo Edebiri and John Malkovich. Following this, horror-comedy Death of a Unicorn, starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, will hit theaters. April brings the highly-anticipated Warfare from Alex Garland and The Legend of Ochi. Wrapping up the year, Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme featuring Timothée Chalamet is set for a Christmas Day release, alongside Benny Safdie’s The Smashing Machine, featuring Dwayne Johnson, also on the slate for 2025.

Immersed among the artist’s loyal fans and daring journalists, he finds himself entangled in bizarre schemes. This ensemble includes Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, Juliette Lewis, and other notable actors.
Fresh from its debut at the Sundance Film Festival, Opus has garnered a disappointing 41% score on Rotten Tomatoes from 22 reviews at the time of this writing. While this score may change as reviews increase, it aligns closely with the scores of A24’s films The Front Room (41%) and Y2K (43%), marking a concerning trend for the studio.
