Release Update for REPLACED: New Date Announced
REPLACED, the highly anticipated 2.5D platformer developed by Sad Cat Studios, has experienced another delay. However, this postponement, the third since its initial reveal in 2021, appears to be the final one before its launch. The game is now scheduled to be available on PC and Xbox Series X/S on April 14, 2026, instead of the previously announced date of March 12, 2026.
Demo Release Sparks Feedback-Driven Improvements
In preparation for the esteemed Steam Next Fest, Sad Cat Studios released a demo version of REPLACED earlier this month, which is still accessible for players. The studio indicated that part of the reason for the delay is to allow the team ample time to refine the game in response to player feedback from the demo.
Dev Team’s Commitment to Quality
In a heartfelt statement, the development team emphasized, “As a small team working on our very first title, we’ve committed our full efforts to this project. The game is technically complete, yet this final phase has highlighted our need for a few more weeks to guarantee that the experience meets your expectations. We want the launch version of REPLACED to be polished, stable, and reflective of the vision we have shared with you.”
Player Feedback Fuels Development
The team also shared their excitement about the feedback received post-demo: “The reaction to our Steam demo has been incredibly motivating. Admittingly, releasing it was nerve-racking, but witnessing your gameplay, reading your reviews, and feeling your excitement has been a gratifying experience. We are actively considering your comments, which are crucial in making the final adjustments that will highlight the full game’s potential.”

Community Appreciation and Anticipation
The developers expressed deep gratitude, stating, “Your patience and unwavering support over the years have been invaluable. Many of you have been with us throughout our journey, and your passion fuels our final development days. We are incredibly close to completing this project and eagerly look forward to sharing the results of our hard work with you.”
They concluded with, “Thank you for your understanding, kindness, and for playing such an essential role in our journey. We look forward to seeing you on April 14, 2026.”
A Brief History of Delays
Initially revealed at E3 2021, REPLACED’s launch was first postponed due to the outbreak of conflict in Ukraine. Despite initial concerns about potential cancellation, Sad Cat Studios continued their efforts, with two additional delays leading to the announcement of the March 2026 release date. This latest adjustment maintains the expected Spring 2026 window, as reaffirmed during Gamescom 2025.
