90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Fans Slam Corona for Ignoring Job Requirements Research in Iceland

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way aired its latest episode on Monday, September 23, 2024, highlighting Corona’s journey to discover her identity in Iceland, where she faced feelings of isolation and discrimination as an African-American woman.

In this episode, Corona connected with a social media group of Black Icelanders, who shared that it’s common to feel like an “outsider”in Iceland. They encouraged her to learn the Icelandic language and immerse herself in the culture to combat her sense of exclusion.

When discussing her career aspirations, Corona expressed her desire to become a midwife but admitted to not having researched the necessary requirements in Iceland. The group cautioned her that securing a job would be challenging without proficiency in the Icelandic language, stating that even a stellar resume wouldn’t suffice if she lacked an understanding of the local culture and language.

Corona felt discouraged after the director of a midwifery school confirmed that she could not gain admission without knowing Icelandic. While feeling overwhelmed, fans of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way took to X to criticize her for failing to investigate the job prerequisites before moving to a foreign country.

“Corona is blaming the lady at the school, like she’s trying to keep her out. She’s acting so bratty and entitled,”a fan wrote.

“Corona… why wouldn’t the courses for midwifery not be in Icelandic since you are in Iceland? I don’t understand why you didn’t finish in the US and then apply abroad with your credentials,”another fan commented.

“Corona was smart enough to get into Penn but not smart enough to learn when the Icelandic midwife school application is due or what language classes are taught in,”a netizen tweeted.

Numerous fans of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way condemned Corona for blaming others rather than taking responsibility for her situation.

“Corona, they are not challenging your degree; they are requiring that you speak the language to get the job,”one user reacted.

“Why is it everyone’s fault but Corona’s in reference to becoming a midwife,”a person commented.

“Just stop, Corona, this woman isn’t ripping your dreams apart. It was your lack of research before you abandoned what you already had for a guy you’ve only known for 4 months,”another fan wrote.

At the same time, several fans labeled Corona “stupid”for moving to another country without understanding its culture or job opportunities.

“I wanted to believe that Corona was smart, but every moment she is on my TV I am learning how foolish she really is. She hasn’t done any research and thought she could just relocate to Iceland & do whatever she wanted?”another user tweeted.

“Corona has no common sense. She needs to take her b*tt back home,”one netizen commented.

“Corona moved to Iceland without knowing anything about how she’d continue her education or career or if Inge is thinking this is forever,”a fan reacted.

“Big Blow to the Gut”— 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Star Corona Feels Discouraged After Discovering Job Requirements

In this episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Corona met with the director of Iceland’s only midwifery school during an information session designed to enlighten her about work culture and admission requirements.

Corona shared with the director that she had been accepted into a midwifery program at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school. However, she declined the acceptance in order to be with her partner in Iceland, while still hoping to pursue her midwifery studies.

The director informed the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way cast member that besides holding a Bachelor of Nursing degree and a nursing license, she was also required to speak and read Icelandic, as all classes were conducted in that language.

While addressing the cameras, Corona expressed that her limited research led her to believe courses would be offered in English. Thus, the director’s comments left her feeling devastated and ready to cry. Her anxiety escalated when she learned that the admission interview would also be conducted in Icelandic.

When the director revealed that she had missed the application deadline and would need to wait another year and a half to apply, it felt like a crushing blow to Corona’s aspirations.

“I feel like I just got my heart ripped out of my chest. It’s a big blow to the gut. Even the best-case scenario is my worst-case scenario, and I’m feeling a little shaky and rocky about my future here. Being a midwife is my first love,”Corona said.

90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way airs every Monday at 8 pm ET on TLC.
