The phenomenon of celebrities and politicians throwing the ceremonial first pitch has become a staple at baseball games. This tradition began in 1800 when former US President Ronald Reagan set the precedent for honoring special guests in attendance.
During this entertaining ritual, guests toss the baseball to the home team from the pitcher’s mound, and it is commonly referred to as a ceremonial first pitch.
In recent years, K-pop idols have embraced this tradition, frequently seen launching the first pitch at exciting matches. Recently, BTS member J-Hope made headlines by throwing his first pitch while supporting the Kia Tigers at his local baseball stadium.
Other K-pop stars, including Tiffany from Girls’ Generation and Cheng Xiao from Cosmic Girls, have also joined in, adding extra excitement to the games.
