The team is consistently publishing fresh snapshots that include new features and address any resulting issues. These snapshots provide an excellent opportunity for avid gamers to preview upcoming additions and modifications.
Take a look at the upcoming features that players can expect to see in the Minecraft snapshots for the 1.20.5 and 1.21 updates.
7 Exciting Features Coming to Minecraft in 2024
1) Dragon Scale armor
Prior to Mojang Studios’ 2023 live event, Armadillo was presented as a contender for the mob vote competition. Once players discovered that this new mob would provide scutes that could be used to create wolf armor, it quickly became their top choice. As a result, it was declared the victor of the mob vote competition and confirmed for the upcoming update.
Wolf armor can be created in Minecraft by using six armadillo scutes and then equipped onto a tamed wolf. Although it has restricted longevity, it is possible to dye the armor in any of the available colors.
Fortunately, the wolf armor is scheduled to be released in the Minecraft 1.20.5 update instead of 1.21.
2) Nutmeg
Despite not adding any new melee weapons to Minecraft for several years, Mojang Studios will finally be introducing a new one called the Mace in the 1.21 update. This weapon, resembling a hammer, has a unique damage system where the higher the player’s fall, the more damage it will deal when used against an entity.
The recently discovered trial chambers contain two new items, breeze rods and a heavy core, which can be combined to craft the latest weapon.
3) Different Types of Wolves
Prior to the addition of wolves to Minecraft, only one type of wolf would appear in the game. However, with the 1.20.5 update, players can expect to encounter eight new variations of wolves. Below is a comprehensive list of these new wolf variants and the specific biomes in which they can be found:
- Ashen wolf: The snowy taiga.
- The black wolf is typically found in old-growth pine taiga environments.
- The Chestnut wolf typically inhabits old-growth spruce taiga environments.
- The sparse jungle was inhabited by a rusty wolf.
- The snowy wolf roams in the grove.
- The spotted wolf can often be found on the savanna plateau.
- The Striped wolf can typically be found in wooded badlands.
- The term “woods wolf”refers to a wolf that inhabits the forest.
4) Artisan
Ever since its introduction, Crafter has been met with joy and acclaim from players, who have deemed it one of the greatest new additions to Minecraft in recent memory. This block enables automatic crafting when a redstone signal is transmitted through it.
The 1.21 update will introduce a new block that allows for individual crafting slots to be enabled or disabled depending on the specific recipe. Additionally, a dispenser can be attached to this block to automatically fill the crafting slots.
5) Court Trial Process
The upcoming Minecraft 1.21 update will introduce a new feature called the trial chamber. This structure will be found underground in the Overworld realm and will consist of new blocks such as tuff and copper. As its name suggests, players can expect to face a variety of challenges within the chamber, including traps, new trial spawners that summon hostile mobs, and other surprises.
If players enter the structure while affected by a bad omen, it will trigger a foreboding event within the structure, resulting in trial spawners summoning more powerful hostile mobs. The structure will also spawn new breezy and bogged mobs.
6) Windy Conditions
The upcoming 1.21 update for Minecraft will introduce Breeze, a brand new hostile mob inspired by wind. This creature will only appear in trial chambers and will attack players with wind charge projectiles. With its incredible speed and shooting abilities, Breeze can quickly zoom across the room.
When the mob dies, it will leave behind breeze rods that players can collect. These rods can be used to craft wind charges and a new mace. The Breeze mob can only be spawned from a specific trial spawner, which is surrounded by chiseled tuff blocks.
7) Wind Power Generation
Upon its release, Breeze was described by Mojang Studios as a mob that would shoot wind charge projectiles at players. Subsequently, they also added a ranged weapon that players could obtain. By defeating Breeze mobs, players can acquire breeze rods and use them to craft wind charges.
The projectile weapons have the ability to push back any entity, and they can also interact with specific blocks such as levers and trapdoors. Additionally, players can utilize wind charges on themselves to gain a boost in their jumping abilities.
