On Tuesday, October 29, rapper 6ix9ine was apprehended in New York City due to suspicions regarding a breach of his parole conditions. He had previously been detained in 2019 over serious charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder. Following his involvement with a dangerous gang, he received a two-year prison term for other offenses that arose during that period.
Subsequently, he cooperated with law enforcement, providing testimony against his gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, and ultimately entered a guilty plea. He was released from prison in 2020 and placed on parole, but details surrounding his current arrest for purportedly violating those terms remain unclear.
In January 2024, the rapper faced legal troubles again when he was reportedly involved in an altercation with his girlfriend, Yailin la Más Viral, leading to his detainment on domestic violence charges in Santo Domingo. Later, authorities in the Dominican Republic issued an international warrant for him following an attempt to exit the country.
Rapper 6ix9ine’s Ongoing Legal Troubles
On October 29, Judge Paul A. Engelmayer issued a warrant for 6ix9ine’s arrest due to allegations that he violated the conditions of his parole linked to his plea agreement from a 2019 racketeering case, as reported by XXL.
This isn’t 6ix9ine’s first encounter with the law. The rapper has been in trouble with legal authorities since 2015. NPR’s coverage from February 2019 highlighted that Hernandez pleaded guilty for his involvement with a minor in a sexual performance, facing three felony charges in October 2015.
In June 2018, Billboard reported on a shooting incident involving rapper Chief Keef near the W Hotel in New York City; Keef was unharmed but soon after, in February 2019, 6ix9ine admitted to orchestrating the shooting.
According to ABC13’s report in November 2019, Hernandez was also accused of choking a 16-year-old at The Galleria shopping mall in Houston in January 2018. He was arrested yet again in New York on July 12, 2018, due to an outstanding warrant.
Moreover, in November 2018, The Fader disclosed that 6ix9ine, alongside his former manager Kifano Jordan and three others, were apprehended on firearms and racketeering charges, with federal indictments for RICO offenses including armed robbery and conspiracy to commit murder.
As noted by Complex, in 2021, Hernandez faced a lawsuit from a Brooklyn-based Japanese tattoo artist for allegedly making false and damaging statements.
In October 2023, LA Times reported that Hernandez was believed to have assaulted two music producers, subsequently leading to his latest arrest in the Dominican Republic.
In January 2024, AP News reported that he was taken into custody on January 17 by Dominican authorities over domestic assault allegations and held in a jail in Santo Domingo. However, by January 25, he was released after posting a $510 bail, agreeing to partake in government therapy, and meeting authorities bi-monthly until the investigation concluded.
As of now, neither 6ix9ine nor his representatives have provided any commentary regarding the recent claims of parole violations and his subsequent arrest.
