3) The Zodiac Killer taunted authorities with letters and ciphers after committing his crimes
On July 31, 1969, three identical letters accompanied by a cipher were sent to major newspapers, including the Vallejo Times-Herald, the San Francisco Chronicle, and the San Francisco Examiner. Believed to be authored by the Zodiac, one letter ominously proclaimed:
“This is the murderer…to prove I killed them I shall state some facts that only I and the police know…I want you to print this cipher on the front page by Friday afternoon, August 1, 1969…if you do not do this, I will go on a killing rampage.”
4) The orange cipher revealed a chilling confession
The terrifying content of the cipher, decoded in August 1969 by two Salinas, California residents, Donald and Bettye Harden, included the following disturbing declaration:

5) The mysterious identity of the Zodiac Killer remains unresolved
The Zodiac Killer boasted about murdering 37 victims using various methods such as ropes, guns, and knives, yet he has evaded capture. The motive behind his heinous acts continues to be a mystery.
