1) Christian Sims committed the act at just 16 years old
According to “I Am a Killer,”Christian Sims, aged 16, went to his grandmother Annie Lois Sims’s residence in December 2014 and enticed her outside. Once she emerged and recognized him, he shot her fatally.
Following the murder, Christian and Ashley fled in Annie’s car to a motel in Oklahoma, located 209 miles from where the crime took place. They were arrested the day after the incident.
2) A grisly crime scene
Four hours before her husband discovered her, Annie Lois Sims was shot multiple times with a shotgun, creating a horrific scene marked by blood. Christian admitted on the show that he had intentions to kill both grandparents but only succeeded with Annie. He expressed his remorse with these words:
“I ended up walking to her (Annie Lois Sims). I thought, ‘She may still be alive.’ So I put another one in the back of her head. I messed up…”

“You’re not supposed to speak ill of the dead, but my grandmother was the most toxic person I’ve ever encountered. She inflicted mental, physical, and sexual pain on me. Instead of physical beatings, she would cause me pain in other ways, like twisting my private parts…”
These serious allegations were not previously made in court, as Christian chose to plead guilty, resulting in a 35-year sentence for first-degree murder.

Ashley Morrison, initially denying her role in the crime and rejecting a plea deal, went to trial on July 26, 2017. The jury found her guilty, leading to a 30-year prison sentence. Although she appealed in 2019, she ultimately pled guilty to second-degree murder and was re-sentenced to 30 years on March 4, 2020.
