46-year-old WWE Superstar admits that he was wrong about CM Punk, says he can’t wait to get in the ring with him
Despite causing some controversy upon his unexpected return to WWE in November of last year, CM Punk has remained a hot topic among fans. The former AEW wrestler made a grand entrance to a thunderous reception from his hometown crowd just before the show concluded. Despite some initial disapproval from fellow WWE Superstars, AJ Styles publicly acknowledged his previous misjudgment.
Despite being a controversial figure, CM Punk remains one of the most prominent figures in the world of sports entertainment today. Whether you love him or hate him, it’s undeniable that he demands attention. His unexpected comeback to WWE was met with surprise from both fans and fellow wrestlers.
During his appearance on the Ringer Wrestling Show at WWE World earlier that day, AJ Styles confessed to the hosts that he had been mistaken in his initial beliefs about the Second City Saint. He expressed a desire to face off against him in the ring and deliver an exciting performance.
“Past performance predicts future behavior, right? Some over at AEW are my best friends. Love ’em, trust ’em, know ’em. I was expecting a problem when he came here and I was wrong. The guy looks like he is happy to be here. He looks like the guy that I want to step in the ring with and tear the house down with,”he said.
What was the original plan for CM Punk at WrestleMania 40?
Despite CM Punk’s return to WWE, he quickly found himself embroiled in a storyline with Seth Rollins. In an effort to add more excitement, Drew McIntyre was incorporated into the mix. Sadly, CM Punk sustained an injury during the Men’s Royal Rumble Match earlier this year, putting a halt to his involvement.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, the previous holder of the WWE Championship discussed his comeback to the WWE and provided an update on his health, stating that he was feeling significantly improved. Punk also spoke about his initial intentions for WrestleMania XL, revealing that he was originally scheduled to compete against Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title on the first night of the event.
Despite CM Punk’s injury preventing him from performing in the ring, he will still have a presence at The Show of Shows as a special guest commentator. He will be at ring-side for the highly-anticipated World Heavyweight Championship bout between Rollins and McIntyre.
