Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt has been denied an extension of the sales tax by Jackson County voters, which would have provided funding for renovations at Arrowhead Stadium.

Despite the majority of voters, 58%, deciding against providing additional funds for upgrades, the vote also results in the cancellation of the $266 million “Community Benefits Agreement” that was promised by the Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals had the “yes”vote been successful.

While it may be feasible to move the two-time defending Super Bowl champions to a different country, the demand for American football is not sustainable. In Canada, they would face competition from hockey and Canadian football. Similarly, soccer is the dominant sport in many European countries, particularly in Germany and England.

Hence, the ideal location for relocation remains the United States as it is where the majority of their fan base resides. These regions are prepared to embrace them should they decide to venture into a new home.

One option for them to stay near their devoted followers and keep drawing fans from the Midwest is by moving to Kansas, even if it means crossing state borders.

If the team is unable to construct a new stadium before the deadline, they have the option of utilizing either the David Booth Memorial Stadium at the University of Kansas in Lawrence (with a maximum capacity of 47,233) or the Bill Snyder Family Football Stadium in Manhattan (with an official capacity of 50,000).

The Chiefs may contemplate a nearby alternative in St. Louis, approximately four hours from Kansas City. Following the departure of the Rams in 2015, St. Louis has also expressed a desire for an NFL team.
