Exciting Updates for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 in 2025
As we approach the end of 2024, Saber Interactive has shared an exciting community update detailing the anticipated features for Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 set to roll out in 2025. Responding to fan feedback, the developer is committed to enhancing the player-versus-player (PvP) experience, starting with the introduction of a new PvP map designed to foster intense close-quarters combat within a confined environment filled with narrow corridors.
Patch 7.0: A New Era of Customization
The upcoming Patch 7.0 is packed with improvements, including the eagerly awaited custom PvP lobbies. Players will have the ability to adjust various elements such as match modifiers, the size of their teams (up to 6v6), time limits per match, and scoring thresholds. Notably, the update will lift the previous restriction of having a maximum of two players per class within a single match, allowing for more diverse team compositions and strategies.
Expanding the PvE Experience
In addition to PvP enhancements, Saber Interactive is dedicated to enriching the player-versus-environment (PvE) content. Players can look forward to the introduction of a thrilling Horde mode, along with fresh missions, formidable new enemies, and an additional difficulty level tied to exclusive rewards. The introduction of a Prestige Rank in Season 3 will also further enable players to enhance their classes, offering a deeper layer of progression.
New Champions and Customization Options
The next champion to join the roster is the Salamander, a Sniper character accessible in both PvE and PvP modes. Saber has clarified that while the Sniper class could have been integrated into the Raven Guard chapter, they have reserved alternative plans for that faction.
A Broader Universe of Customization
Moreover, players will enjoy enhanced customization options, including the Mark VI Corvus, as Saber continues to develop the Battle Barge. A new region dubbed Data Vault will debut next year, containing unlockable lore and details about various enemies from the game. Accessing this information will require a special in-game currency, which players can earn through achievements.
Continuous Improvements Since Launch
Since the game’s launch in September, Saber Interactive has maintained an active development schedule, releasing patches to improve gameplay. The recent Obelisk update introduced a PvE co-op Operation, alongside support for advanced graphic technologies like NVIDIA DLSS 3 and AMD FSR 3 for PC users, as well as compatibility with the PlayStation 5 Pro console.
A Bright Future Ahead
The ambitious roadmap outlined is a testament to the success of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, which has surpassed five million units sold by late November 2024. Saber Interactive is clearly aiming to capitalize on this momentum, ensuring that the player base remains engaged for the long haul. With its continuous updates and enhancements, the game is a strong contender on the shortlist for the best shooter of 2024.
