2024 NFL Draft: 3 teams that should trade for Jets’ #10 overall pick

2024 NFL Draft: 3 teams that should trade for Jets’ #10 overall pick

In 2024, the New York Jets had a very active off-season as they aimed to reconstruct their team for the upcoming 2024–2025 season.

The Jets strengthened their offensive line with the addition of Tyron Smith and John Simpson, while also acquiring OT Morgan Moses through a trade. They also secured the services of wide receiver Mike Williams and a few other free agents, including DT Javon Kinlaw, OLB Hasson Reddick, CB Isaiah Oliver, and DT Leki Fotu.

Despite a disappointing 7-10 record and missing the playoffs in the 2023-2024 season, the Jets took action in the off-season to address a variety of needs.

Despite their busy off-season, they are in a favorable position to possibly trade down in the 2024 NFL Draft since they currently possess the 10th overall selection.

Despite the off-season, the New York Jets still have one of the most comprehensive rosters on paper.

The team holds the authority to either make a trade with a quarterback-needy team at pick No. 10 or opt to wait and select the most promising player available.

Despite the common practice of teams making aggressive moves to draft quarterbacks, the Jets will probably receive offers from a few interested parties for pick No. 10.

In the 2024 NFL Draft, the New York Jets are expected to face off against three potential teams:

#1 New York Giants

The 2024 NFL Draft is approaching and the Denver Broncos are expected to have the 12th overall pick. Head coach Sean Payton has expressed interest in potentially trading up in the draft, a decision that is logical for the team.

The Broncos let go of Russell Wilson just two seasons after acquiring him through a trade, resulting in a significant void at quarterback. Currently, they have Jarrett Stidham and Ben DiNucci, but neither is anticipated to fill the role of franchise quarterback.

Although it may not appear to be a significant jump, going from pick No. 12 to pick No. 10 would have a big impact on Denver. This move would place them ahead of the Minnesota Vikings at pick No. 11, who are also in the running for a quarterback.

#2 Sin City Raiders

Directly following the Denver Broncos in the draft order is one of their AFC West opponents, the Las Vegas Raiders. Last year, the Raiders acquired Jimmy Garoppolo on a three-year contract but ultimately decided to bench him midway through the season. In the off-season, Garoppolo was let go by the team.

Heading into their inaugural season under the leadership of new head coach Antonio Pierce, the Raiders are in need of a top-tier quarterback to lead their franchise. It is possible that they will have to strategically maneuver ahead of other teams in order to secure their desired player.

Acquiring the No. 10 pick would position them ahead of the Vikings and the Broncos, both of whom are also seeking a quarterback.

#3 San Francisco Giants

The San Francisco 49ers will make the second-to-last selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, at No. 31 overall.

Despite having one of the strongest rosters in the league, the 49ers may face the potential loss of a crucial offensive player this season. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk and the team are currently engaged in contract negotiations, with Aiyuk publicly expressing his desire to be traded.

According to reports, the 49ers and Jaguars discussed a possible trade, but it ultimately did not come to fruition.

The 49ers could either include Aiyuk in a trade to move up to the 10th pick, or they could trade him to another team and still have the opportunity to trade up and potentially select players like Marvin Harrison or Malik Nabers at the 10th pick.
