New players engaging in Reverse: 1999 should be aware of the Timely Reinforcements event, accessible through the small doorway icon in the game’s menu. This feature allows players to select a complimentary six-star character according to their story progress, enabling the acquisition of an S-tier character like Malenia or Medicine Pocket, or an A-Tier option like Sotheby.
Additionally, players can summon characters such as S-tier Malenia, Vila, or Marcus from the Ripples on the Water banner, which offers a choice among six featured characters.

S-Tier Characters
The S-Tier characters from our tier list represent the pinnacle of potential, equipped to lead teams with unparalleled ease. Noteworthy examples include Ezio Auditore and Nautika, who can advance through substantial portions of the story with minimal reliance on their allies. Key S-Tier carries, such as Lucy, Recoleta, Anjo Nala, and Marcus, are indispensable for solid offense. On the other hand, leaders like Medicine Pocket, Fatutu, and Vila offer robust support, ensuring team survivability. Utility-focused characters, including Flutterpage, Melania, Charon, and Semmelweis, can enhance your squad’s performance through buffs and crowd control tactics.
While mastering different characters, it’s critical to consider the complexity of their abilities. Some require significant player involvement to optimize their effectiveness and cannot be reliably utilized in Auto mode.
A-Tier Characters
A-Tier characters will not perform at the extreme level of S-Tier units, yet they maintain a formidable capability. By integrating these characters with your S-Tier lineup and enhancing them through Euphoria upgrades (discussed further below), players will achieve compelling success throughout the game’s journey. Prominent A-Tier carries like Windsong and Centurion stand out, while damage-dealing supporters such as Getian and Lopera manage to deliver both offense and assistance.
B-Tier Characters
The B-Tier presents a diverse range of characters, including some impactful six-star Arcanists and the fan-favorite five-star Buddy Fairchild, who uses his charm to buff teammates while dealing damage. Notably, several of these characters gain substantial benefits from Euphoria upgrades, granting them enhanced skills which elevate their contributions to the team.
C-Tier and D-Tier Characters
The C-Tier and D-Tier segments notably feature various five-star characters, yet this does not diminish their potential within a team. Many of Reverse: 1999’s characters can synergize effectively, even if they occupy lower tiers. While a six-star team will invariably outperform five-star compositions, including beloved lower-tier characters can diversify your strategy. For instance, characters like Name Day, Yenisei, and Sonetta may not exhibit overwhelming stats but can provide valuable support for your stronger offensive team members.
E-Tier and F-Tier Characters
Characters categorized in E and F-Tier are not entirely useless; however, they tend to feature more specialized kits, making them less competitive as you progress through the game. While effective in early game scenarios, these lower-tier Arcanists will often struggle to maintain their relevance in tougher challenges.
As you unlock more powerful characters throughout your playthrough, you’ll soon witness that those in E and F-Tier rarely contribute meaningfully during critical content. Nevertheless, they can still fill gaps in team composition during early-game or Breezy Mode, though for advanced challenges, prioritize assembling a team with higher-tier Arcanists to maximize your resource management and success rates, especially should you prefer Auto play for efficiency.
