Upcoming Zenless Zone Zero Update: Version 1.4 Details
A significant update for Zenless Zone Zero is set to launch on December 18, 2024, which will introduce new characters, advancements in the story, and notable gameplay changes. Among these changes, the much-anticipated elimination of TV mode during campaign quests is confirmed, along with the addition of ray-tracing support specifically for PS5 Pro users.
Removal of TV Mode
The decision to remove TV mode was initially announced by HoYoVerse in September 2024, though a specific timeline was not provided until now. The upcoming 1.4 update will officially phase out this feature, which involved guiding the character Bangboo through various puzzles and interactive screens. Instead of this mode, players can now expect a gameplay experience that focuses solely on exploration, battles, and story development.
Furthermore, players will enjoy a Fairy Auto Explore feature, facilitating automatic navigation through past commissions. This shift aims to enhance player immersion by emphasizing active engagement with the game’s environment.
New Characters and Gameplay Enhancements
The 1.4 update will also mark the introduction of two new S-Rank characters: Hoshimi Miyabi and Asaba Harumasa. Miyabi stands out as the first character with Frost abilities, capable of freezing foes using her **Frost Corruption** skill, making her a valuable close-range combatant. In contrast, Harumasa serves as an archer whose unique bow can transition into a blade, complementing his combat style with **Electro Quiver traps** for tactical versatility.
New Locations Await
Players can also look forward to exploring new environments, namely Port Elpis and Reverb Arena. As an added feature, players will have the capability to switch between characters while traversing New Eridu, allowing greater flexibility and a more personalized gameplay experience with those obtained through the gacha system.
