For avid trophy hunters, the thrill of watching that coveted platinum trophy appear on the screen is one of the greatest joys in gaming. However, there are instances where achieving that elusive platinum is simply unattainable, often due to circumstances beyond the player’s control.
As someone proud to display over a hundred platinum trophies on my PSN account, I understand the frustration of being unable to achieve 100% completion because of glitches or server shutdowns that render certain trophies completely inaccessible. Such incomplete journeys can lead to a less satisfying gaming experience for many players. To help others avoid disappointment, we’ve compiled a list of titles where unlocking the platinum trophy is currently impossible.
10. Red Ronin
Incomplete Vengeance

Picture a blend of Hotline Miami and tactical combat – that’s Red Ronin for you. This exciting game invites players to step into the shoes of a ronin on a quest for vengeance, battling enemies by moving along a grid-like field. However, achieving the platinum trophy requires completing the game without dying and in under an hour, which I managed to do—only to realize that a glitch with the trophy named “Red Ronin” prevents players from earning it despite finishing the story multiple times. Unfortunately, this issue has been experienced by many, leaving players frustrated and unable to secure the platinum.
9. Overwatch
Eternal Judgment

With the transition to Overwatch 2, the original game’s trophy list was unfortunately discarded. This means that any trophies you might have missed before the transition are now lost forever. Each time I log into my profile, I see that incomplete trophy list stuck at 77%, serving as a constant reminder of what could have been if I’d collected them all in time.
8. Battleborn
Battledied

Not long ago, Battleborn was known as a free-to-play game designed to compete with Overwatch, blending hero shooter mechanics with MOBA elements. Unfortunately, due to poor reception and dwindling player counts, the game’s servers were shut down on January 25, 2021, thus rendering its platinum trophy out of reach. Those few who earned it before the closure possess a rare relic of gaming history.
7. Concord
Born Locked

Initially, I played Concord for a work-related review, but no one could have predicted that it would be shut down a mere two weeks after its release. This unfortunate mishap left my trophy list displaying a mere 7% completion. Positioned as Sony’s attempt at a 5v5 hero shooter, its incredibly short lifespan effectively locked its limited player base out of trophy completion, confirming its status as a rare unreachable platinum trophy.
6. Friday the 13th: The Game
Jason Killed Even the Trophies

Having dedicated over 200 hours to Friday the 13th: The Game, it’s disheartening to see that many achievements will now remain forever out of reach due to the server shutdown on December 31, 2024. Multiple trophies required extensive gameplay and linked to specific numbers such as “13”and “666, ”leading to the disappointing closure and my unmet goal of securing the platinum.
5. Conarium
A Cult Glitch

As a lover of Lovecraftian tales, I was thrilled to explore Conarium, but my excitement turned to frustration when several ending trophies failed to unlock. Unfortunately, numerous players discovered that certain trophies had been glitched since launch, and despite efforts for a patch, it seems that summoning Cthulhu might be a prerequisite for achieving this elusive platinum trophy.
4. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst
No Faith?

The integration of online trophies within single-player titles has to end, and Mirror’s Edge Catalyst serves as a prime example of this issue. Though the game is a fantastic reboot filled with engaging challenges, its reliance on online trophies contributed to its downfall when the servers were taken offline on December 8, 2023, making the platinum trophy unreachable.
3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Nate, Do Something

While Uncharted 2 offers some of the most enjoyable trophies, which include using all weapons and completing the game on Crushing difficulty, players are now locked out of the platinum due to the servers shutting down on September 3, 2019. The two accessible online trophies require completing just a single match in each mode, which is a considerable loss for trophy hunters.
2. LittleBigPlanet 3
LittleBigFrustration

In early January 2024, we received the disappointing news that LittleBigPlanet 3‘s servers would remain offline indefinitely due to technical issues. Sadly, this game also features online-only trophies, rendering the platinum trophy outright impossible to unlock, making it a sore spot for many players.
1. Mad Max
The Platinum Became a Desert Legend

Mad Max stands as an underrated gem with its expansive open world and captivating gameplay. However, be aware that pursuing all trophies may lead to disappointment due to an unobtainable achievement related to online features, as the servers were taken offline on October 31, 2020. It’s incredibly frustrating when a single online trophy hinders your ability to earn the platinum trophy.
